Our head trainer:
- has used a service dog since 2005
- has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Michigan
- has a Canine Studies Degree, the only dog training degree program certified by the State of Washington
- is member of the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers)
- is certified in Pet First Aid by the American Red Cross
- is a Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator
- is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed
The Service Dog Academy trains using non-violent humane training methods approved by the AHA (American Humane Association).
We take our careers seriously and take continuing education classes and seminars to keep us updated on the latest scientific breakthroughs in dog training techniques. Heres a list of our most recent educational pursuits:
- APDT conferences in 2009, 2010 and 2011
- 2010 and 2012 Clicker Expos,
- the Fear Aggression and Play Workshop
- Dr. Ian Dunbar seminar in May 2010,
- Diabetic Alert Dog Training classes in California in 2009 and
- classes with the top Narcotics Dog Detector for the Seattle Police Department in 2011
